Design and Technology is an engaging and ‘hands-on’ course that nurtures creativity and innovation, providing agency to the practical use of imagination. The course will encourage students’ organisational skills which will be developed through the exploration of design processes while visual communication skills will be promoted in student presentations of ideas and visual research. Analyses and evaluations will be on-going aspects with the aim of helping students develop their critical thinking and literacy. Psychomotor skills will be developed through physical interactions with materials and techniques, throughout all, creativity will be a constant key focus.

The three projects for each year group will either focus on recycling, Ceramics or have a strong IT element.

Students will be challenged to think like designers, craftspeople, artists and inventors encouraging problem-solving, and technical skills while enabling them to apply their knowledge in practical contexts.

Assessment in this course will include constant feedback through verbal interaction. NOW NEXT THEN tasks on the board, mid term and terminal assessments.

Students will gain valuable specific skills that may be applied in various fields, such as product design, architecture, engineering, and entrepreneurship. By fostering creativity, critical thinking, and technological literacy, this course equips students to become the designers, crafts people and innovators of the future.
